AsPEN Meeting at ACPE 2024: Strengthening Governance and Collaboration

Oct 13, 2024

The AsPEN Special Interest Group held its annual meeting during the Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology (ACPE) 2024 in Tokyo, Japan, on October 13, 2024. The meeting brought together members from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the network’s governance, leadership, educational initiatives, and future collaborative research opportunities.

A key agenda item was the review and approval of AsPEN’s Governance Policies and Procedures, which formalize the network’s organizational structure and leadership succession process. Members also discussed the election of the next AsPEN Chair as part of the network’s ongoing commitment to sustainable leadership and growth.

The group explored opportunities to contribute to the ISPE Webinar Series by developing short educational sessions on pharmacoepidemiology topics of broad interest to the international research community.

In addition, members discussed potential AsPEN-led collaborative projects, including reviews of Asian-Pacific healthcare databases. Proposed initiatives included a review of databases for perinatal pharmacoepidemiology.

The meeting provided an important forum for members to exchange ideas and identify new opportunities for regional collaboration. AsPEN looks forward to advancing these initiatives and continuing to strengthen pharmacoepidemiology research across the Asia-Pacific region.
